PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Jerome Bettis and Amos Zereoue rushed for short touchdowns to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers past the Minnesota Vikings, 17-14. Bettis had six carries for 36 yards in one quarter, including a two-yard scored that gave the Steelers a 7-0 lead. Zereoue went in from a yard out for a 14-0 advantage with 6:12 to go in the second half. Kordell Stewart played most of the first half for Pittsburgh, completing 7-of-12 passes for 105 yards. Vikings starter Daunte Culpepper was 10-of-26 for 121 yards and a score. Culpepper accomplished Minnesota's objective of getting the ball in the hands of Randy Moss, who nabbed a game-high six catches for 85 yards, including a five-yard touchdown. The Steelers (2-2) play in the season's first Monday night contest on September 9 at New England. Minnesota (2-2) opens up in Chicago on September 8. |
