KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Once Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk left for the St. Louis Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs looked a whole lot better.

Todd Collins threw two second-half touchdown passes as the Chiefs rallied for a 23-16 victory over the Rams in the preseason finale for both Missouri rivals.

With the NFL's most prolific offense, Rams coach Mike Martz played his starters sparingly after they dropped their first three exhibition contests.

But Martz changed his thinking in this one, allowing Warner and Faulk to play the entire first half.

Warner had plenty of chances to get his arm ready for next week's opener at Denver as he completed 17-of-27 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown. Faulk had 11 carries for 50 yards and two catches for 37 yards.

Led by Warner and Faulk, the Rams raced to a 16-3 halftime lead. But the Chiefs rallied in the second half, scoring 20 unanswered points after Warner and Faulk exited.

Collins, who will back up Trent Green, threw a 46-yard TD pass to Dante Hall in the third quarter and found Derrick Blaylock from three yards early in the fourth, giving the Chiefs a 20-16 lead.

Collins went 12-of-16 for 131 yards. Green was ineffective, going 4-of-12 for 34 yards with two interceptions.

The Chiefs (3-1) open the regular season on September 8 at Cleveland.
