SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Damien Anderson rushed for 113 yards and strong safety Justin Lucas returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown to lead the Arizona Cardinals to a 16-10 preseason victory over the San Diego Chargers .

With Emmitt Smith and Marcel Shipp sitting out the contest, Anderson picked up the slack. He carried 10 times, including an 82-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Lucas stepped in front of pass by Cleo Lemon with 8:27 remaining in the first half and brought it back for a TD, giving the Cardinals a 10-3 lead.

Bill Gramatica kicked field goals of 31 and 22 yards and Tim Duncan connected from 39 yards for the Cardinals.

Cardinals starter Jeff Blake played into the second quarter and went 4-of-7 for 40 yards.

David Boston , signed away from the Cardinals as a free agent, made his preseason debut for the Chargers and had one catch for 14 yards. Star running back LaDainian Tomlinson also saw his first preseason action and carried twice for 14 yards.

Drew Brees played in the second quarter for the Chargers and completed 5-of-7 passes for 47 yards.

Lemon tossed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Grant Mattos late in the fourth quarter.
