NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Justin McCareins moved a step closer to securing a starting job as he caught a pair of touchdown passes to help the Tennessee Titans post a 37-24 preseason victory over the Buffalo Bills .

In his third year out of Northern Illinois, McCareins is battling Drew Bennett for a starting job opposite Derek Mason.

McCareins, who should see significant time even if he doesn't win the job, caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Steve McNair early in the second quarter before hauling in a 35-yard pass from Billy Volek later in the period.

Volek, who is pushing veteran Neil O'Donnell as he attempts to become Tennessee's No. 2 quarterback, completed 10-of-16 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

Olandis Gary scored on an eight-yard run in the second quarter for the Bills. Travis Henry had a 62-yard run on the scoring drive.

Frank Wycheck , whose lateral to Kevin Dyson set up the "Music City Miracle" in the 2000 playoffs against the Bills, suffered a concussion on the first play of the game.
