MIAMI (Ticker) -- Clinton Portis and Rock Cartwright each rushed for a touchdown as the Washington Redskins posted a 17-0 preseason victory over the Miami Dolphins , who got very little from their running game.

Portis scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter and Cartwright plunged over from a yard out in the second, helping the Redskins build a 14-0 lead.

Portis rushed for 37 yards and Cartwright 33 as the Redskins (2-1) racked up 181 yards on the ground.

Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell was sharp as he completed 7-of-9 attempts for 79 yards.

For the second straight week, the Dolphins (1-1) failed to generate much of a running game. They produced just 25 yards on the ground, led Travis Minor , who gained 15 on eight carries.

Miami has a huge void to fill in the backfield after Ricky Williams announced his sudden retirement just prior to the start of training camp.
