CNN/SI

Seventeen and oh. Say those words to anyone even remotely familiar with pro football, and observe. Seventeen and oh. The invocation inspires an almost universal reaction: awe.

Last season, on the 25th anniversary of the Miami Dolphins' Super Bowl roll, CNN/SI offered a tribute to the only team in the 78-year history of the NFL to complete a perfect season. We've revived this flashback to once again hail the team that stands alone.

The Dolphins won with a young, anonymous, suffocating defense. They won with a punishing running game. They even won after their starting QB, Bob Griese, was injured and replaced by 38-year-old Earl Morrall. To borrow a phrase, they just won, baby.

Sports Illustrated's photographers roamed the sidelines capturing classic shots of an unforgettable year.
