After lasting just 20 games as coach of the Raiders in 1988-89, Mike Shanahan resurrected his career in a three-year stint as San Francisco's offensive coordinator. Given a second chance at a top job, Shanahan has proven to be one of the NFL's brightest minds, going 34-14 in three seasons. When he first passed out his two-volume, seven-inch-thick playbook, players told Shanahan, "Even God didn't have that much to say."
