Smith missed a third-quarter catch that could have tied the game.
January 21, 1979
Miami, Orange Bowl

Bradshaw controlled the first rematch in Super Bowl history, throwing for a career-best 318 yards and four touchdowns to give the Steelers their record-setting third Super Bowl victory. The Cowboys rallied from a 35-17 deficit with seven minutes to go in the game and closed to within four points with 22 seconds left. On the ensuing kickoff, Steelers running back Rocky Bleier fielded a Dallas onside kick to end the game. Cowboys fans were left to forever curse tight end Jackie Smith, who dropped a pass as he stood wide open in the end zone. Had Smith made the third-quarter catch, the game would have been tied.
