Cincinnati outgained San Francisco 356 yards to 275, but four Bengals turnovers made the difference in the first Super Bowl played in a cold-weather city. By halftime at the Silverdome, the Niners had jumped out to a 20-0 lead, but the Bengals closed to within six points at the start of the fourth quarter. Ray Wersching hit all four of his field-goal attempts for the Niners, including 40- and 23-yarders in the fourth quarter to ice the victory. Montana won the first of his three MVP awards by going 14-for-22 for 157 yards.
