"There's no pressure," said Buffalo quarterback Jim Kelly before the Bills' fourth straight Super Bowl appearance. He was rightno one expected the Bills to win the game. But when Buffalo went to the locker room at the half with a 13-6 lead, many people were wondering if it would finally be the Bills' year. It wasn't. Fifty-five seconds into the third quarter, the Cowboys went ahead to stay when James Washington returned a Thurman Thomas fumble for a 46-yard touchdown. The Cowboys shut out Buffalo in the second half. They relied on Smith, who had 30 carries and 132 yards, to send the Bills to their record fourth straight Super defeat.
