Lost in the remarkable offensive statistics generated by the St. Louis Rams (529 yards) is the fact the Denver Broncos' offense hit on all cylinders Sunday. Case in point: The Broncos rolled up 499 yards in routing the Cleveland Browns 44-10 on Sunday.

Consider:

  • Third-year quarterback Brian Griese shredded the Browns for 336 yards and three touchdowns -- all to Rod Smith.

  • Rookie running back Mike Anderson rushed for 100 yards and a TD.

  • Wide receivers Ed McCaffrey (131 yards) and Smith (109 yards) both topped the century mark.

Griese, the AFC's top-rated passer, completed 19 of 34 passes with no interceptions before leaving the game with a 34-10 lead late in the third quarter. He had 304 first-half yards.

The Indianapolis Colts also had 499 yards of offense, led by QB Peyton Manning (287 yards, TD), RB Edgerrin James (218 yards, 3 TDs) and WR Marvin Harrison (134 yards).

St. Louis had the day's largest offensive yardage output, but failed to have at least one player reach the 100-yard mark in each category. Warner threw for 313 yards and three TDs and Marshall Faulk ran for 208 yards and a score, but the leading reciver, Isaac Bruce, had only 88 yards.

For good measure, Denver kicker Jason Elam scored 14 points (five point-after TD kicks and 3-of-4 on field goals). The Colts' Mike Vanderjagt posted 13 points (3 FGs, 4 XPs). Rams kicker Jeff Wilkins was injured on the opening kickoff and did not return to the game.

More importantly, Denver moved above .500 (4-3) and remains 1 1/2 games behind AFC West leader Oakland (5-1). The Broncos play host to the Raiders on Nov. 13.
