They were the Quarterback Class of 1999, five players with bright futures who had the burden of five franchises thrust upon their shoulders.
Daunte Culpepper was the media darling during Minnesota's undefeated trek through seven games this season.
Cleveland's Tim Couch and Cade McNown of Chicago had the media buzzing about their public courtship of Playboy Playmate Heather Kozar.
Each of these three QBs had posted big single-game numbers (chart below), while Donovan McNabb and Shaun King were ... well, forgotten.
McNabb made his mark Oct. 1 when he torched Atlanta for 311 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia's 38-10 victory.

King, who was heavily scrutinized after Tampa Bay lost four consecutive games and fell to 3-4, saved the best for last.
On Sunday, Culpepper & Co. swaggered into Tampa's Raymond James Stadium with their sights set on forcing the Buccaneers to walk the playoff-race plank. The Vikings were 7-0, while Tampa Bay floundered three games behind.
Sixty minutes later, with a career day under his belt, King stood tallest among his QB contemporaries. His final numbers: 16-of-23, 267 yards and four touchdowns. The Buccaneers won 41-13, moved to .500 and -- most importantly -- remained in the playoff hunt. Coupled with Detroit's loss at Indianapolis, Tampa Bay is one game behind the second-place Lions in the NFC Central.
Not to be overlooked Sunday is St. Louis running back Marshall Faulk. With 1999 MVP quarterback Kurt Warner sidelined with a broken finger, Faulk put the Rams on his back and carried them in a shootout against San Francisco.
Faulk rushed 19 times for 83 yards and caught six passes for 61 yards (144 total yards) and scored four touchdowns as St. Louis downed the 49ers 34-24.
