Under the tutelage of head coach Andy Reid, second-year QB Donovan McNabb has blossomed. AP |
By B. Duane Cross, CNNSI.com
He's following in the footsteps of such Philadelphia legends as Ty Detmer, Rodney Peete, Randall Cunningham and Ron Jaworski. Add Donovan McNabb as a quarterback who has led the Eagles to the postseason since 1970.
McNabb torched Cleveland for a career-high 390 yards and four touchdowns Sunday as Philadelphia clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 1996. The Eagles' 35-24 victory was their 10th win of the season, the most since '96.

McNabb now has 3,167 yards passing and 20 touchdowns -- both career highs for the second-year QB.
"He gets my MVP vote," says tight end Chad Lewis. "It's like he feels no pressure and is having fun. And we're having fun with him."
Possibly more than any other team vying for Super Bowl XXXV, as McNabb goes, so go the Eagles. In 10 victories, he is averaging 228.1 yards passing. In the team's five losses, he is averaging about 50 yards less (177.2).
"Maybe I answered some questions [Sunday], maybe not," McNabb said. "We have 10 wins and that's all that's on my mind. It [playoffs] has definitely not sunk in yet."
