Bettis and the Steelers were outrushed and dominated as the Dolphins handed them their first shutout in five years Andy Lyons/Allsport

By Week 3, the inexplicable 2-0s either start losing or start gaining respect. The NFL's 11 undefeated teams going into the week have one by one been pared down to a normal level.

The Dolphins are now an emphatic 3-0 after winning the week's only battle of undefeateds, shutting down the Steelers with a 21-0 win. The Packers, too, are 3-0 after their defense clamped down on the Bengals and held on for a 13-7 win. The undefeated Vikings changed quarterbacks without much dropoff and saw their defense step up in a 29-6 win over Detroit.

Seattle's defense has it surprising everyone at 3-0, while the Jaguars offense has offset numerous defensive injuries in their perfect start.

Just as there are 3-0 teams, there also must be 0-3s -- the Colts, Bears and Bills found more of the same in Week 3 -- Indy was simply outmanned again, while Chicago and Buffalo saw another close game slip away.

Stats and recap
Patriots 27 (2-1)
Oilers 16 (1-2)

Stats and recap

Bears 15 (0-3)
Bucs FB Mike Alstott, who had eight straight 100-yard games as a college senior, didn't one as a pro until Sunday. Buccaneers have been shut out in the first half this season, but outscored Chicago 27-0 in Sunday's second half. Despite an early fumble, Mike Alstott gave the Bucs the running game they've needed, finishing with 103 yards.
Stats and re cap
Jaguars 24 (3-0)
Ravens 10 (1-2)
Jaguars rookie RB Fred Taylor, who had just seven carries entering the game, set a team record with 128 rushing yards. Jaguars QB Mark Brunell kept passing in the second half, with two touchdown passes, while Eric Zeier fell silent. Brunell, who finished with 376 yards for his third-best game as a pro, completing 25 of 34 passes.
Stats and recap
Cardinals 17 (1-2)
Eagles 3 (0-3)
The Eagles have scored 15 points in their first three games, the team's worst start since 1939, when it went 1-9-1. After three scoreless quarters, the Cardinals ended the game with 17 unanswered points, keyed by two Eagles fumbles. Cards RB Adrian Murrell rushed for 145 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown run to put the game away in the fourth.
Scores and recap
Cowboys 31 (2-1)
N.Y. Giants 7 (1-2)
Deion Sanders, who returned an interception for a TD, has had only 2 picks in each of the last three seasons. Sanders did everything, returning a punt and interception for touchdowns and catching a 55-yard pass on the side.
