CNNSI.com reviews the Week 5 games.
Week Five
   Chicago 20 at Chicago
   Arizona 13 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 3 -- Consecutive victories by the Bears, their first three-game winning streak since 1995.
Player of the Game Mike Brown, S, Chicago: Forced the fumble R.W. McQuarters returned 69 yards for the decisive touchdown.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Chicago is winning with defense. For the second consecutive week, the Bears' defense scored on a fumble return. And that's good, given Chicago's offense. The Bears had only 253 yards of total offense, and quarterback Jim Miller passed for only 116 yards and two interceptions.

Green Bay 31 at Green Bay, Wis.
   Baltimore 23 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 31 -- Points by the Packers, the most allowed by the Ravens since Week 2 of the 2000 season.
Player of the Game Brett Favre, QB, Green Bay: Completed 27 of 34 for 337 yards and three TDs against the league's No. 1-ranked defense. Favre engineered TD drives of 59, 74, 80 and 82 yards, the longest against the Ravens this season.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown There was an Antonio Freeman sighting in Green Bay. The Packer WR caught nine passes for 138 yards and a TD after having only nine catches for 80 yards coming into the game. The Ravens found out their not the only team that can play defense. Green Bay's second-ranked defense forced four turnovers, a trouble area for Baltimore this season. The Ravens committed six turnovers in their only other loss.

   San Francisco 37 at Atlanta
   Atlanta 31 (OT) Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 2 -- Overtime victories by the 49ers against the Falcons this season. San Francisco rallied to beat Atlanta 16-13 in Week 1.
Players of the Game Jeff Garcia, QB, to Terrell Owens, WR, San Francisco: Combined for three TDs, including a 17-yarder with 17 seconds left in regulation to tie the score and the winning 52-yarder in OT.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown It may not be Montana-Rice or even Young-Rice, but Garcia-Owens isn't bad, especially against Atlanta. Owens caught 183 of Garcia's 332 passing yards Sunday. In Week 1, Garcia threw for 335 yards against the Falcons, 93 of them to Owens.

Pittsburgh 20 at Kansas City, Mo.
   Kansas City 17 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 0-3 -- Chiefs' record this season at Arrowhead Stadium, their worst start at home since 1980.
Player of the Game Jerome Bettis, RB, Pittsburgh: Rushed for 112 yards on 19 carries (5.9 average). His 30-yard run to the Kansas City 8 in the third quarter helped set up the decisive touchdown.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Maybe the Chiefs should trade for Bettis. He has five 100-yard rushing efforts in six career games at Arrowhead. Kansas City QB Trent Green continues to struggle. His seventh interception of the season was returned 61 yards by Steelers CB Chad Scott.

New England 29 at Foxboro, Mass.
   San Diego 26 (OT) Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 10 -- Consecutive wins by the Patriots against the Chargers
Player of the Game Tom Brady, QB, New England: Completed 33 of 54 for 364 yards and two TDs.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Brady is doing what Drew Bledsoe could not. Replacing the injured Bledsoe, Brady has lead the Patriots to two wins in three games. He rallied New England from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to upstage San Diego QB Doug Flutie, who has a 12-2 career record at Foxboro Stadium. WR Terry Glenn showed New England what it's been missing with seven catches for 110 yards and a TD in his first action following a four-game suspension.

   Tennessee 31 at Nashville, Tenn.
   Tampa Bay 28 (OT) Recaps
Game Summary
Key Stat 1 -- Wins by the Titans this season to avoid the franchise's first 0-4 start since 1984.
Player of the Game Joe Nedney, K, Tennessee: Kicked three field goals, including the 49-yard winner in OT.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown A healthy Steve McNair makes all the difference for the Titans. He passed for 230 yards and rushed for 54 more. Brad Johnson rallied the Bucs with a pair of fourth-quarter TDs as the passing game showed life, but the running game gained just 24 yards. Moreover, Tampa Bay allowing 31 points has head coach Tony Dungy fuming.

St. Louis 15 at St. Louis
   New York 14 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 4 -- Weeks Rams RB Marshall Faulk is expected to miss after injuring his right knee.
Player of the Game Michael Strahan, DE, New York: Recorded four of the Giants' six sacks on Rams QB Kurt Warner. Strahan has 8 1/2 sacks in his past three games.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown The Giants did something most thought was impossible -- contain the Rams' high-powered offense. New York actually outgained St. Louis in total yardage 332-315. Warner didn't throw a touchdown pass despite passing for 316 yards and the Rams were held out of the end zone until Faulk replacement Trung Canidate scored from 1 yard with 4:16 left in the game. The difference of these Rams and years past is the defense. With New York driving deep into St. Louis territory late in the game, the Rams forced a turnover to seal the win.

   Minnesota 31 at Minneapolis
   Detroit 26 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 31 -- Points by the Vikings, the first time in 10 regular-season games they have surpassed 30.
Player of the Game Duante Culpepper, QB, Minnesota: Passed for 227 yards and a TD, and rushed for 83 yards and two scores.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown The Vikings' offense showed up for a half as Minnesota built a 24-6 lead. But it didn't score in the final 25 minutes of the game and was outgained 457-343. Charlie Batch rallied the Lions in the second half, finishing with a career-high 345 yards passing and three TDs. But Detroit still found a way to remain winless -- an early hole, an interception and eight penalties did the trick.

   Cincinnati 24 at Cincinnati
   Cleveland 14 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 3-2 -- Bengals' record, their best start since their last winning season in 1990.
Player of the Game Corey Dillon, RB, Cincinnati: Rushed for a season-high 140 yards and a fourth-quarter TD.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown It's pretty simple in Cincinnati. When Dillon has big games, the Bengals usually win. In back-to-back losses, Dillon rushed for less than 65 yards. Cincinnati's defense continues to make strides. It forced six turnovers in a win against Baltimore earlier this season, and held the Browns to just 211 total yards.

New Orleans 27 at Charlotte, N.C.
   Carolina 25 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 1 -- Seconds left in the game and yards out Ricky Williams scored from to lift New Orleans to victory.
Player of the Game Ricky Williams, RB, New Orleans: Workhorse rushed for 147 yards on 31 carries.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Williams will get the glory, but Aaron Brooks made the winning TD possible for New Orleans. He engineered a 13-play, 82-yard drive which included pass completions of 14 yards on fourth-and-10 and 22 yards to get the Saints to the Panthers' 5. He completed only 14 passes, but finished with 180 yards and two TDs.

New York 21 at East Rutherford, N.J.
   Miami 17 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 7 -- Consecutive victories by the Jets against their AFC East rival.
Players of the Game Vinny Testaverde, QB, to Laveranues Coles, WR, New York: Combined for TD passes of 22 and 25 yards in the second half to help rally the Jets from a 17-0 deficit.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Maybe the Dolphins should try to get behind against the Jets. Miami outgained New York 250-27 in the first half in building a 17-0 lead. But Curtis Martin rushed for 120 yards, including a 27-yard TD run, as the Jets stormed back in the second half. Two Jay Fiedler interceptions in the closing minutes sealed the Dolphins' fate.

   Seattle 34 at Seattle
   Denver 21 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 13 -- Consecutive victories by Trent Dilfer as a starting quarterback, including two with the Seahawks.
Player of the Game Shaun Alexander, RB, Seattle: Rushed for 142 yards and two TDs, including a 60-yarder on the sixth play of the game that set the tone.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Can Mike Holmgren be serious? Seattle's head coach says Matt Hasselbeck will reclaim the starting QB job when he is healthy. But Dilfer, despite modest numbers, gets results. Alexander also has taken over in place of the injured Ricky Watters. Alexander has 318 yards and four TDs in two starts. Not to be outdone was the Seahawks' defense, which stuffed Mike Anderson (51 yards) and the Broncos' offense. Brian Griese threw three INTs.

   Oakland 23 at Indianapolis
   Indianapolis 18 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 2 -- Interceptions thrown by Peyton Manning, giving him nine on the season.
Player of the Game Anthony Dorsett, CB, Oakland: Returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown Manning threw three more touchdown passes, giving him 13 for the season. Only problem is four of them have gone to the opposition. His second interception Sunday didn't go for a score, but it ended the Colts' last chance.

   Dallas 9 at Irving, Texas
   Washington 7 Recap
Game Summary
Key Stat 107 -- Yards rushing by Emmitt Smith, his first 100-yard game of the season.
Player of the Game Tim Seder, K, Dallas: Kicked three field goals, including the game-winner from 26 yards out as time expired.
CNNSI.com's Breakdown One word: ugly. Neither team could score in the first half until Seder kicked a 28-yard FG with 21 seconds left in the second quarter. Tony Banks nearly made the Cowboys pay for signing him in the offseason then releasing him in training camp with a 31-yard TD pass to Michael Westbrook. But the Redskins, who have scored only two touchdowns in their 0-5 start, managed just 226 total yards.
