The teams traded first-half field goals as Frankfurt took a 3-0 lead on a 32-yard field goal by Ralf Kleinmann, only to have it matched by Silvio Diliberto's 25-yarder early in the second quarter. Galaxy quarterback Pat Barnes, who went 4-for-4 for 58 yards in the first half, led Frankfurt on a scoring drive early in the third quarter and threw a one-yard TD pass to Shawn Scales to make it 10-3 with 9:21 to go. But the Admirals immediately countered as Dan Gonzalez led a drive that culminated in a one-yard plunge by Joe Aska, lifting them into a 10-10 tie with 5:16 left in the third quarter. Frankfurt took a 13-10 lead with 1:38 to go in the third quarter on a 35-yard field goal by Kleinmann, but Thompson capped the go-ahead scoring drive with a 12-yard scoring jaunt at the 3:07 mark. Diliberto missed a 32-yard field goal that would have given the Admirals a seven-point lead with three minutes to play, and the Galaxy had a go-ahead touchdown pass from Jake Delhomme to Mario Bailey negated by a penalty, and wide receiver Todd Floyd dropped a potential scoring pass later on the drive. Aska finished with 62 yards rushing for Amsterdam, which was outgained 287-272 but had 126 yards rushing on 33 attempts. Dan Gonzalez completed 13-of-19 passes for 171 yards for the Admirals, who avenged two losses to the Galaxy. Barnes and Delhomme combined to complete 20-of-32 passes for 223 yards with one interception and one touchdown for Frankfurt. Andy McCullough had team highs of seven catches and 101 yards. © 2000 Sportsticker Enterprises, LP
