Posted: Sat May 15, 1999 at 7:42 p.m. EDT BARCELONA 21, FRANKFURT 15 (OT)BARCELONA, Spain (Ticker) -- Lawrence Phillips scored on a one-yard run in overtime to complete a dramatic comeback and give the Barcelona Dragons a 21-15 victory over the Frankfurt Galaxy and sole possession of first place in NFL Europe. The touchdown was the second of the game for Phillips as Barcelona overcame a 15-point third-quarter deficit. The Galaxy dominated the first half. Jake Delhomme, allocated by the New Orleans Saints, moved them into scoring position with passes to Andy McCullough and tight end Ron Leshinsky before hitting McCullough for a 13-yard touchdown. Jimmy Clements blocked Jeff Beckley's punt and the ball went out of the back of the end zone for a safety that stretched Frankfurt's lead to 9-0. Raf Kleinmann kicked field goals of 28 and 19 yards to stretch the advantage to 15-0 midway through the third quarter. Jesus Angoy missed a 42-yard field goal attempt that would have gotten the Dragons on the board, but a pass interference helped them find the end zone before the end of the period. Todd Bouman's 28-yard strike to Brian Finneran made it 15-7. Held to minus-rushing yards in the first half, Phillips broke free for a 31-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter and Bouman's pass to Scott Dragos for the two-point conversion forged a 15-15 tie. The Galaxy had a chance to regain the lead inside the two-minute warning, but Kleinmann's 31-yard field goal attempt sailed wide for his first miss of the season. © 2000 Sportsticker Enterprises, LP
