HAMPDEN PARK, Scotland (Ticker) -- Chris Dittoe threw a pair of touchdown passes as the Berlin Thunder defeated the Scottish Claymores, 28-10. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman was among those in attendance at Scotland's new national stadium as the Thunder (3-4), who last week stunned the league-leading Barcelona Dragons, won their third straight game. The day started positively for Scotland (3-4) when Glasgow native Scott Couper caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Dameyune Craig for an early 7-0 lead. But linebacker Scott Fields soon recovered a fumble and Berlin capitalized on a 51-yard field goal by David Akers to cut the lead to 7-4. Craig responded with a 33-yard pass to Shon Bell that moved the ball to the edge of the red zone, setting up a 37-yard field goal by Ron Hart that increased the lead to 10-4 at halftime. Hart missed a 23-yard field goal early in the third quarter and Berlin moved downfield, taking the lead on a five-yard TD pass from Dittoe to Isaac Curtis for an 11-10 lead. The Claymores turned it over on their next play from scrimmage as Craig was intercepted by Fields. Berlin appeared to return the favor with a fumble, but the officials ruled a play dead and the Thunder retained possession. The Thunder capitalized on three interference calls and took an 18-10 advantage on a one-yard TD run by Justin Watson late in the third quarter. Operating out of the shotgun, Dittoe had crucial third-down completions to Andre Rone and Tyrone Taylor in the fourth quarter, leading to a 48-yard field goal by Akers. Berlin linebacker Vernon Strickland forced a turnover deep in Claymores territory and Dittoe capped the scoring with a six-yard TD pass to Anthony Rodgers.
