In the second Presidents Cup, the United States never trailed. With a huge lead after Day 1, the U.S. appeared to be well on their way to victory. On Day 2, however, the International squad made a huge comeback during the foursome competition to pull within one match. On last day, Fred Couples defeated Vijay Singh in the final match, 2 and 1, to make an even split of singles play, as the U.S. held on for the one-point victory.
