72 holes were not enough to decide the winner of the British Open championship. Justin Leonard and Jean Van de Velde both had opportunities to win the tournament in regulation, but were humbled by the 18th hole. They joined local hero Paul Lawrie in a four-hole playoff to see who would get to kiss the Claret Jug. Click on any of the images below to see who emerged victorious at Carnoustie.
