Tiger, again using a long-iron off this tee, found the middle of the fairway. His approach drifted a little right and clipped a tree branch near the green, his ball dropping short of the putting surface. He recovered though, hitting an indifferent chip to 8 feet and sinking the par putt.

A nice drive to the left side of the fairway left Tiger with a perfect angle to the green on this dogleg right. He took advantage by hitting a wonderful approach that flew over the flag and spun back nearly into the hole, stopping 6 feet above the cup. But he failed to capitalize, missing the downhill left-to-right putt on the left edge.

With the wind at his back, Tiger mashed a driver to the left-center of the fairway. His second shot easily reached the green but stopped on the lower part of the two-tiered green, some 50 feet from the hole. Tiger's effort on the uphill, left-to-right eagle putt scooted 5 feet past the hole. Tiger missed an opportunity to gain ground when his birdie putt burned the right edge, leaving 3-footer for par.

Tiger's long tee shot found the left side of the fairway. His approach hit on the green but bounded through to the fringe, just avoiding the back bunker. His pitch shot was average and left a tricky 4-footer for par, which Tiger tapped into the center of the cup.

Tiger hit a nice tee shot to the center of the green, about 8 feet from the hole. But for what seemed like the umpteenth time the last two days, Tiger burned the edge of the cup, his ball catching the left edge and spinning out for a tap-in par.

With the wind gusting left-to-right across the fairway, Tiger's approach drifted right and landed in the bunker guarding the right side of the green. His blast hit the slope in the green 10 feet from the hole then slid down another 10 feet. Tiger's 20-foot birdie attempt stopped 2 feet short for a tap-in par.

Tiger ripped a drive to the center of the fairway. His approach into the wind was long and flew over the green about 10 feet into the light rough. From a good lie, Tiger played a nice pitch to 2 feet and tapped in for par.

Tiger finally provided some dramatics here. He hit a nice tee shot that sailed a little long to the back of the green, stopping some 20 feet away from the hole. Faced with a slightly uphill right-to-left putt, he made a terrific stroke, his ball dropping into the center of the cup as Tiger treated the gallery to one of his patented fist-pumps.

While the winds calmed for a moment, Tiger smashed a drive to the right-center of the fairway. He pulled his approach slightly into the moderate rough. Tiger nearly made it two birdies in a row when his flop shot tracked toward the hole and nearly went in, leaving a tap-in for par.

After a nice drive to the left side of the fairway, Tiger's second shot hit on the front of the green then backed up to within 15 feet of the hole. His first putt was 2 feet short, leaving an easy par putt.

Tiger hit what looked to be a perfect long-iron tee shot before the wind gusted up and knocked it down into the front fringe, some 75 feet from the pin. Tiger pitched to 4 feet and nailed the putt for par.

The gusting winds again negated Tiger's prodigious length, and his tee shot came to rest against the first cut of rough on the left side of the fairway. He hit a good approach into the wind, just over the pin to 10 feet. Tiger missed the slightly downhill right-to-left putt for a tap-in par.

This hole again jumped up and bit Tiger. With the wind at his back, Tiger ripped a 368-yard drive to the left side of the fairway. But for the third time in a row dating to last year, he deposited his second shot into the pond fronting the green. After a drop, he hit a brilliant pitch shot that hit into the bank and bounced up to within 4 feet of the hole for a great par.

Hitting into the wind, Tiger pulled his tee shot left, his ball landing on the wrong side of the cart path. From a good lie where grass had been trampled by the gallery, Tiger drew his approach around some trees, hit ball hitting on the front part of the green before rolling into the back fringe. He hit a nice pitch to 3 feet and made the par-saving putt.
