TULSA, Okla. (Reuters) -- Defending champion Tiger Woods bogeyed the 18th to complete a 4-over 74 in the rain-interrupted first round of the U.S. Open and stood eight shots off the pace at Southern Hills on Friday.

No. 12 -- Sent his second shot over the back of the green, chipped to about 12 feet and missed par-saving putt on left side to bogey and slide to 4-over.

No. 13 -- Hit his second shot to the 534-yard, par-5 hole into the water guarding the green. Put his next shot 10 feet from the hole and sank a par-saving putt.

No. 14 -- Routine two-putt par on the 215-yard par-3 hole.

No. 15 -- Makes his first birdie of championship by rolling in a 6-footer on this 412-yard par-4 to move to 3-over.

No. 16 -- Pars the 491-yard par-4, longest in Open history, by two-putting from 30 feet.

No. 17 -- Left 8-foot putt for birdie 1 foot short on 365-yard par-4 to remain 3-over for the round and nine shots off the pace.
