Tiger's First Round Hole-By-Hole Updated: Sunday June 17, 2001 1:45 PM TULSA, Okla. (Reuters) -- Defending champion Tiger Woods bogeyed the 18th to complete a 4-over 74 in the rain-interrupted first round of the U.S. Open and stood eight shots off the pace at Southern Hills on Friday. No. 1 -- Woods hit his tee shot right of the fairway, then sent is second shot left of the green. He chipped about 4 feet and made par-saving putt. No. 2 -- Approach shot landed short of green in the right rough. Delicate chip shot finished close to hole for another par-saving putt. No. 3 -- Woods on green in two, about 40 feet from the hole. Left first putt short by about 8 feet and rimmed the cup on next for a three-putt bogey. No. 4 -- Put his approach shot on the fringe and two-putted for par. No. 5 -- Laid up on the longest par-5 in Open history at 642 yards and two-putted from about 20 feet for par. No. 6 -- Safely on the green of the 175-yard par-3, two-putt par. No. 7 -- On in two, routine two-putt par. No. 8 -- Hit his tee shot to this par-3 hole over the green, chipped to within a foot and made par. No. 9 -- Approach shot to this tricky par-4 found the right-front bunker. Came out too strong and ran into the rough on the other side of the green. Chipped to about 5 feet and two-putted for double-bogey. No. 10 -- Made tricky 8-footer to save par after play resumed on Friday in the storm-interrupted first round. No. 11 -- Routine two-putt par on this par-3 hole. No. 12 -- Sent his second shot over the back of the green, chipped to about 12 feet and missed par-saving putt on left side to bogey and slide to 4-over. No. 13 -- Hit his second shot to the 534-yard, par-5 hole into the water guarding the green. Put his next shot 10 feet from the hole and sank a par-saving putt. No. 14 -- Routine two-putt par on the 215-yard par-3 hole. No. 15 -- Makes his first birdie of championship by rolling in a 6-footer on this 412-yard par-4 to move to 3-over. No. 16 -- Pars the 491-yard par-4, longest in Open history, by two-putting from 30 feet. No. 17 -- Left 8-foot putt for birdie 1 foot short on 365-yard par-4 to remain 3-over for the round and nine shots off the pace. No. 18 -- Hit approach shot into front-right bunker, blasted out to 8 feet and took two putts for a bogey to complete a 4-over-par first round of 74 that left him eight shots off the pace.
