Tiger's Second Round Hole-By-Hole

TULSA, Okla. (Reuters) -- Defending U.S. Open champion Tiger Woods, struggling to make the cut, bogeyed the par-4 16th to drop to 5-over par -- nine shots off the pace in the second round at the U.S. Open championship on Friday.

Woods had posted back-to-back birdies at 12 and 13 to get to level-par for the round before the bogey left him 1-over with one hole to play in the round.

The world No. 1 came to Southern Hills with the aim of winning his fifth successive major championship. Players within 10 shots of the lead qualify for the last 36 holes.

No. 1 -- Hitting iron off tee, finds first intermediate cut of rough on right side, hits approach to green and two-putts for par.

No. 2 -- Slices tee shot into trees on right, chips out short of green. Flips third shot to within eight feet and converts par-saving putt.

No. 3 -- On the green of the 408-yard par-4 in regulation and made an 8-foot par-saving putt.

No. 4 -- Approach shot landed in deep front bunker, and he barely got out into greenside rough. Chipped to 12 feet and two-putted for bogey to stand 5-over for the tournament.

No. 5 -- Tee shot on 642-yard par-5 landed in rough, blasted out short of green and wedges next shot to about 12 feet below the hole. Runs first putt 3 feet past, then missed par-putt for three-putt bogey that put him at 6-over for tournament.

No. 6 -- Put tee shot on 175-yard par-3 about 10 feet from hole but missed birdie putt to the right.

No. 7 -- Hit approach shot on 382-yard hole to about 6 feet but again missed birdie putt to the right.

No. 8 -- Hit tee shot on 225-yard par-3 on the green, 40 feet from cup and two-putted for par.

No. 9 -- Reached green of 374-yard hole in regulation and Two-putted for par.

No. 10 -- Approach shot landed in back bunker. Blasted out to within a couple feet and saved par.

No. 11 -- Tee shot to 165-yard par-3 sailed over green. Chipped ball 7 feet past the pin and made par-saving putt.

No. 12 -- Reached the green of this 456-yard par-4 in regulation and cashed in on his first birdie putt of the round, and just his second of tournament, to improve to 5-over.

No. 13 -- Laid up on 534-yard par-5 and put third shot about 10 feet from cup. Made putt for birdie to reach 4-over.

No. 14 -- Reached green of 215-yard par-3 and barely missed long birdie putt.

No. 15 -- Put approach to 412-yard par-4 about 20 feet from hole and two-putted for par.

No. 16 -- Hit tee shot on 491-yard par-4 into the rough on the right side. Knocked second shot short of green, chipped on and two-putted from 10 feet for bogey to stand 5-over for tournament.

No. 17 -- Sent second shot at 365-yard hole over green and into the rough. Chipped to 7 feet and made par-saving putt.

No. 18 -- Second shot to 466-yard finishing hole left him A 10-foot putt for birdie, but he missed to complete a second-round 71 for a 5-over total of 145.
