TULSA, Okla. (Reuters) -- Defending champion Tiger Woods birdied the 17th hole to move to 4-over par and stand eight shots off the pace in the third round at the U.S. Open on Saturday.

No. 1 -- Drove into fairway bunker on right side, hit second shot short of greenside trap. Chipped to 20 feet and two-putted for bogey to drop to six over par, 10 shots from lead.

No. 2 -- On green in regulation, two-putt for par from 15 feet.

No. 3 -- Sticks second shot 10 feet past hole, birdie putt hits lip of cup and spins out for a par.

No. 4 -- From 30 feet above hole, trickles down putt and raises putter up in air anticipating birdie, but ball runs a foot past on the left side.

No. 5 -- Hits second shot to 642-yard par-5 into front-right greenside bunker. Blasts out to about 12 feet past hole and makes birdie putt to stand 5-over par, nine shots off the pace.

No. 6 -- Puts tee shot to 175-yard par-3 on the green and has 9-foot putt for birdie, which grazes right edge but stays out.

No. 7 -- Second shot to 382-yard par-4 ends up short of green. Pitches up to within a foot of the cup and makes par.

No. 8 -- Lands tee shot to 225-yard par-3 about 20 feet in front of pin and ball rolls up to within 2 feet of cup. Taps in for birdie that puts him 1-under for day, eight shots off the pace.

No. 9 -- Drives over trap on right side, but second shot clips tree and settles against front lip of right greenside trap to give him awkward stance. Blasts out over green to back fringe, chips back to 4 feet for bogey and back to level par for round, nine shots off the pace.

No. 10 -- Bad angle to pin after tee shot to right side of fairway on 374-yard hole. Puts second shot into right-front bunker but blasts to within inches of cup to make par.

No. 11 -- Puts tee shot to 165-yard par-3 about 30 feet off hole. Misses birdie putt by inches.

No. 12 -- Tee shot on 456-yard par-4 leaves him bad lie in left rough. Second shot finds rough on left side of green. Chips strong and rolls off back side of green. Chips back on and makes putt for bogey to drop to 6-over, 10 shots off the pace.

No. 13 -- Again finds rough off the tee on 534-yard par-5, but puts third shot on green within 6 feet. Misses birdie putt.

No. 14 -- Hits tee shot to 215-yard par-3 to 10 feet from cup and slips birdie putt inside the right edge to get back to 5-over par, nine shots off the pace.

No. 15 -- Approach shot to 412-yard hole lands on the left fringe of green. Misses 14-foot birdie putt by inches.

No. 16 -- Second shot on 491-yard par-4 puts him 15 feet from cup, but he misses birdie putt.

No. 17 -- Puts approach shot to 365-yard hole 10 feet from the cup and makes birdie to move to 4-over, eight shots off the pace.

No. 18 -- Birdie chance from 20 feet is missed.
