JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) -- Despite two dropped shots on the outward nine of the Houghton Golf Club, England's Anthony Wall turned in a superb final nine Sunday, including five birdies, to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship by two shots from Scotland's Gary Orr.

The tournament, on the South African leg of the European PGA Tour, was shortened to 54 holes after torrential rain wreaked havoc with the schedule during the first three days.

Wall finished on 10-under-par 204, with rounds of 69, 67 and 68. Second-round leader Trevor Dodds of Namibia slipped during the final round, carding a two-over-par 74 to finish well back, tied at fifth place on eight-under-par 208.

Wall, in winning his maiden tournament, dropped shots on the short sixth, and then again on the ninth. But he responded immediately by shooting a birdie on the 10th. He followed that with birdies on the 12th, 14th, 15th and 17th to take a firm grip of the tournament as Dodds sank further from contention.

Pre-tournament favorite Retief Goosen, South Africa's top money-earner on last year's European Tour, made a final charge, shooting a final round 66 to finish alone in fourth place three shots off the pace.

England's David Lynn and Denmark's Anders Hansen also both shot 66s, the best final rounds in the field as they finished joint fifth and joint 10th respectively.

Best performance by an American came from Tom Gillis, who closed with a one-over 73 to finish joint 22nd on three-under-par.

Orr made a charge at Wall with a bold eagle attempt on the par-five 18th. With Wall in the right rough off the tee, and short with his third, the possibility of a playoff loomed.

But Wall rifled home his par putt, and Orr missed his eagle putt, leaving Wall a relieved winner.
