At the 1988 Olympics Joyner-Kersee (right) became the first athlete in 64 years to win gold medals in both multiple and single track and field events (heptathlon and long jump), and the first American woman to win gold in the long jump. Sister-in-law Florence Griffith Joyner (left), also known as "Flo-Jo", took home four medals of her own.
