Erick Walder is accused of shoving a parking and transit enforcement officer on the University of Arkansas campus Gary Mortimore/Allsport

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (AP) -- A former Razorback track star was arrested on assault and terroristic threatening charges Tuesday, only a day after he won the silver medal for the long jump in the Goodwill Games.

Erick Walder accepted the silver medal Monday in New York. The next day, he was being booked at the Fayetteville City Jail on the misdemeanor charges.

Walder, 28, is accused of pushing Robert A. Gilbride, 23, twice in an argument June 12 at the University of Arkansas campus.

Gilbride, a parking and transit enforcement officer, was trying to put a vehicle boot jack on Walder's car when the athlete pushed him, according to university police reports.

Walder apparently surrendered to the Fayetteville Police Department on Tuesday afternoon, after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the city prosecutor's office

According to a 1994 edition of UA Track, a publication of the University of Arkansas' track and field program, Walder is a nine-time All-American from Mobile, Alabama. Walder attended the UA from 1991 to 1994 and his 28-foot long jump in 1994 still stands on the UA record books.
