NEW YORK (AP) - Saulius Stombergas scored 19 of his 28 points in the first half Friday night and Lithuania crushed Puerto Rico 119-75 to win the Goodwill Games bronze medal. It was Lithuania's first appearance in the basketball competition in the Goodwill Games and its third bronze medal in a major international tournament. It finished third in both the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. Puerto Rico was the defending Goodwill Games gold medalist. Lithuania, which lost to the United States in the semifinals, took control right away against Puerto Rico. The lead was 18-4 in the opening 41/2 minutes as Stombergas had 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and Gintaras Einikis had six. The lead was as much as 21 points in the first half and Lithuania went up 55-36 at halftime. Lithuania, which shot 69 percent (47-for-68) from the field, pulled away steadily, with the largest lead 112-66 with 2:34 to play. Danius Adomaitis was 9-for-10 from the field and had 22 points for Lithuania, which made 10 of 17 3-point attempts and finished with a 40-18 rebound advantage. Eddie Casiano led Puerto Rico, which lost to Australia in the semifinals, with 23 points.
