How To Use Browser Plug-Ins
Microsoft's Internet Explorer (version 2.0 and up) and the Netscape browsers (versions 2.0 and up) support "plug-ins." Plug-ins give these browsers enhanced file-viewing abilities by allowing multimedia content to be viewed inside the browser. For instance, instead of launching a separate "Helper Application" to view interactive games created in Macromedia Director, the "Shockwave" plug-in will display that game right inside the browser.
