DENVER (AP) -- Los Angeles defenseman Philippe Boucher left the Kings' game against Colorado in the first period Thursday night after being struck in the face by a puck.

Boucher was hit near the right eye on a shot by Colorado's Darius Kasparitis with 4:41 left in the period.

Kasparitis's shot from the top of the left the circle bounced sideways off the back of Kings defenseman Mattias Norstrom. The puck caromed off Boucher's face and nearly went into the Kings' goal.

Boucher lay facedown and was kicking his feet after being hit, and was helped off after about a minute.

Boucher has one assist in the best-of-seven playoff series, which Colorado leads 3-1.
