Johnson's streak ends with Thomas' second-period goal

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Brent Johnson's shutout streak ended at 3 hours, 26 minutes and 45 seconds Thursday night when the Chicago Blackhawks scored during the second period against the St. Louis Blues.

Johnson shut out the Blackhawks in Games 2, 3 and 4 of the opening-round series and made 13 saves in the first period of Game 5, becoming only the fourth goalie in NHL history with three shutouts in one series and the first to do it with his first three playoff victories. Patrick Lalime of Ottawa matched him with his third straight shutout over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.

Steve Thomas ended the run with a backhander for his 50th career playoff goal at 4:34 of the second period, the Blackhawks' first goal in the series since Alexander Karpovtsev's game-winner with 3:10 to go in a 2-1 Game 1 victory. The goal tied the game at 1.

The streak was originally set at 183:10 entering the game, but more than a minute was taken away because Johnson was pulled late in Game 1.
