Lumme out indefinitely with concussion

OTTAWA (AP) -- Veteran Jyrki Lumme is out indefinitely with a concussion, further depleting the Toronto Maple Leafs' defense.

Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn also said Sunday that Lumme has an injury to his upper body, but wouldn't specify further. Lumme had missed four games late in the regular season with a shoulder injury.

Lumme was hurt when he was checked hard into the boards by Ottawa's Chris Neil in the first period of Game 2 of the teams' Eastern Conference semifinal on Saturday. His loss forced the Leafs to play with five defensemen for the rest of the game, which they won 3-2 in triple overtime.

Lumme was healthy enough to travel with the team to Ottawa in preparation for Game 3 on Monday.

The Leafs are also missing defensemen Cory Cross (upper body injury), Dmitry Yushkevich (blood clot in leg), forwards Mats Sundin (wrist), Garry Valk (groin) and Mikael Renberg (lower body) and backup goaltender Tom Barrasso (hand).
