| Patrick Roy only had lost 15 postseason games in overtime in his 17-year Hall of Fame career. Fredrik Olausson had just four playoff goals in his journeyman 15-year career, and none since 1992. But Olausson beat Roy on a deflected slap shot 12:44 into overtime to lift the Wings to a 2-1 win.

Patrick Roy
Colorado Avalanche
40 saves, 2.39 GAA and .912 save pct. in playoffs
|
 |
| If the Avs had pulled it out in overtime, this one would've found a prominent place on Roy's career highlight reel. Roy was tested consistently throughout the game and wasn't at fault for Luc Robitaille's goal which went off Greg de Vries' glove or Olausson's game-winner which went off Martin Skoula's leg. |

Sergei Fedorov
Detroit Red Wings
0 goals, 1 assist, plus-1, 7 shots, 22:28 ice time, 27 shifts

 |
| Sergei Fedorov continued to be the Wings' most valuable two-way player, backchecking brilliantly and carrying the puck well through the neutral zone. Though he has yet to score a goal in the series, Fedorov continues to create scoring chances and has been Detroit's most consistent forward. |
