DETROIT (AP) -- Goaltenders are supposed to make stops, not get stopped, but that's what happened to Dominik Hasek of the Detroit Red Wings.

Hasek was ticketed on his way to practice Tuesday morning for allegedly driving 65 mph in a 45-mph construction zone on a downtown Detroit expressway, police said.

"It doesn't matter who you are. If you're speeding in a construction zone, you will get fined," Officer Alecia Thomas said. "Construction workers are constantly getting killed or injured or maimed by drivers all over the world."

The two-time winner of the Hart Trophy honoring the NHL's MVP had no comment on this particular citation, said Red Wings spokesman John Hahn.

"He's focused on the game," Hahn said several hours before the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Red Wings 3-2 in overtime in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals.

Hasek has 14 days to pay a fine of about $200 or contest the ticket in District Court.
