| Mental Toughness |
Cloutier's consistency was at its best this season, a sign of maturity and understanding.
| Glove Hand |
Very quick. Like most goalies that rely on agility, Cloutier counts on his catching hand to be the equalizer, especially in those moments where questionable technique leaves him down and seemingly out.
| Stick |
Cloutier has solid mechanics in passing and shooting, and keeps it simple regarding puck exchanges with defensemen. He has improved his patience around his net in blocking the passing lanes and moving side to side on wraparound attempts.
| Pads |
Cloutier's pad use is a function of his footwork. He is active in his crease, moving forward and backward more than most netminders. The result is more half-butterfly saves and pad stops while moving, making rebound control more difficult.
| Style |
He is a scrambler who is ready to spring from his crouch, but he plays smaller than his frame. As a result, shooters get a good glimpse of the net behind him. The biggest improvement in his game is his patience. He is not so quick to try to make something happen on every shot, resulting in much better early setup fundamentals and quieter feet.
| Intangible |
Cloutier -- like his Canucks team in general -- has to overcome the disappointment of losing the division title on the final day and find a way to turn regular-season success into series wins. Cloutier must also battle through his nagging injuries as well.
