| Mental Toughness |
Giguere followed up a terrific season a year ago with an equally impressive campaign this time around. He seems to handle the workload and responsibility of being a No. 1 netminder effortlessly.
| Glove Hand |
More a function of his style than anything else, Giguere seldom makes extended glove saves. His focus is keeping his elbow in, closing the hole between his arm and body. Catching is secondary in Giguere's scheme.
| Stick |
Giguere is solid in close, especially with the paddle down at both posts. He is average at best when it comes to passing and shooting, but he isn't that active fielding the puck anyway -- probably a function of lost mobility due to his large pads.
| Pads |
In a word, big. Giguere pushes the limits of legality with his pads, but behind the bulk he has excellent technique in extending to both posts with his pads. He seldom gets caught leaving holes exposed when making pad saves -- again a combination of technology and technique.
| Style |
Plays the textbook V style, with legs taking away the bottom of the net and upper body upright. His cumbersome equipment limits his mobility, but he is patient and prefers economy of motion anyway.
| Intangible |
Giguere has been great for the Ducks for two consecutive seasons. He will have to be at his best in the first round facing the defending Stanley Cup champions.
