ANAHEIM, Calif. (Ticker) -- When the New Jersey Devils take the ice Saturday evening at the Arrowhead Pond, they will have a three games to two lead in the Stanley Cup finals for the third time in four years.

In 2000, after squandering a chance to end the series at home, New Jersey won the Stanley Cup in Game 6 at Dallas. But most Devils remember the following year, when they lost Game 6 at home and Game 7 at Colorado.

"Cliche says the fourth one is the hardest to win. And it is," right wing Turner Stevenson said. "We had a chance to here at home last time against Colorado and we didn't come out with our best game. We came out with our best game for a period and thought they were going to hand it to us. That'll play a factor Saturday."

Of the 20 players likely to dress for Game 6, half are veterans of the 2001 Stanley Cup finals. One is center Scott Gomez.

"We have to prove to ourselves that we can do it. It gets even harder now," he said. "The Colorado thing, that was all different. We were going home and feeling good. It's going to be a battle out there. Nothing's going to be given to us.

"You don't like to prolong anything, and if you can take advantage, you have to take advantage."

Coach Pat Burns said Friday there has not been much talk in the locker room about what happened two years ago.

"I think it's a good thing," he added. "I think the past is what happened in the past, there is not much you can do about it. It's what's going to happen in the future. I think the players are right to do that.

"This is a different bunch. Not everybody, but there is quite a few guys different here. I think we have to worry about [Saturday]. And if we have a Monday, we'll have to worry about Monday."
