Ex-Rangers asst. GM Ball dead at 76

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) -- Denis Ball, a former assistant general manager with the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues, has died.

Ball, who was 76, died April 22, according to his wife Joyce.

Ball began his career with Rangers as a scout in 1950. During his 25 years with the organization he served as director of the team's farm system before becoming assistant general manager.

He joined the St. Louis Blues in 1975 and spent eight seasons there as vice president of hockey operations and assistant general manager before retiring in 1983.
