SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Phoenix Coyotes re-signed right-winger Mike Johnson to a one-year deal on Saturday.

The two parties were scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing later in the day but avoided it with the agreement.

"Mike had a great season for us last year and we are pleased to have him under contract for the upcoming season," Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett said in a statement.

Last season, the six-foot-two, 201-pound Johnson led Phoenix in scoring with 23 goals and 40 assists. He was one of only three Coyotes to play in all 82 of the team's games.

In nine NHL seasons with Toronto, Tampa Bay and Phoenix, Johnson has 99 goals and 176 assists in 469 games.
