NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Finnish defenseman Teppo Numminen, already making his All-Star game debut, was named a replacement starter Thursday for the NHL World All-Star team.

The 30-year-old Numminen, who leads all Phoenix defenseman in scoring with 24 points, will start in place of Detroit's Uwe Krupp, who will miss Sunday's game against the North American All-Stars due to a back injury. Krupp was expected to start alongside Red Wings teammate Nicklas Lidstrom, but has been out since Dec. 22.

Sporting a plus-minus rating of plus-14, Numminen has played in 254 consecutive regular season games, the longest active streak among defenseman and the third-longest overall in the NHL.

He was picked from a group of All-Star defenseman that includes Roman Hamrlik of the Edmonton Oilers, Alexei Zhitnik of the Buffalo Sabres and Sergei Zubov of the Dallas Stars.

Mattias Ohlund of the Vancouver Canucks and Mattias Norstrom of the Los Angeles Kings were named to the World roster as injury replacements on Wednesday. Kenny Jonsson of the New York Isalnders also will sit out the game after suffering a knee injury Saturday.

Ohlund is the fourth-leading scorer for the Canucks with 22 points on six goals and 16 assists. Last season, he led all rookie defensemen with 30 points and finished second to Boston's Sergei Samsonov in Calder Trophy voting.

Norstrom is one of four Kings to appear in all 44 games this season. The former New York Ranger has one goal and three assists in his sixth NHL campaign.
