NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Stu Grimson's season might be over.

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim enforcer was suspended one game by the NHL on Monday for a cross-checking incident Sunday during a 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Grimson, a former Red Wing, cross-checked Kris Draper in the face and drew a match penalty for attempt-to-injure. Steve Yzerman scored the decisive goal on the ensuing power play.

"It was my fault," Grimson said after the game. "I took a bad penalty at the wrong time, but if I wanted to hurt him, he would be hurt right now."

"I turned around and Grimson was there," Draper added. "It was good to see the referees make the right call. I saw him out of the corner of my eye. He just got the side of my face. It was a good thing I wasn't turned around facing him or I could've been spitting out some teeth."

Grimson will miss Tuesday's Game 4, when the Ducks -- facing a 3-0 series deficit -- attempt to stave off elimination.
