NEW YORK (AP) -- Defenseman Ray Bourque of the Boston Bruins was chosen Thursday for his 18th consecutive NHL All-Star Game, tying Wayne Gretzky for the longest streak in hockey history.

Only Gordie Howe, with 23, has made more All-Star appearances.

Four Philadelphia Flyers were added to the North American team for the 50th NHL All-Star Game, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 6 at Toronto.

Picked from Philadelphia were center Eric Lindros, wing John LeClair and Mark Recchi, and defenseman Eric Desjardins. Lindros, LeClair and Recchi are among the NHL's top 10 scorers this season, and Desjardins is the league's second-highest-scoring defenseman.

Three teams placed three players each on the 25-man North American team, which will be coached by Pat Quinn of Toronto and Roger Neilson of Philadelphia.

St. Louis will have defenseman Al MacInnis and forward Pierre Turgeon joining starting defenseman Chris Pronger. New Jersey will send rookie forward Scott Gomez, defenseman Scott Stevens and goalie Martin Brodeur, while Detroit added defenseman Chris Chelios to starting forwards Steve Yzerman and Brendan Shanahan.

Also added to the North American team were goalie Mike Richter of the New York Rangers, defenseman Phil Housley of Calgary and forwards Tony Amonte of Chicago. Mark Messier of Vancouver, Mike Modano of Dallas, Owen Nolan of San Jose, Jeremy Roenick of Phoenix and Joe Sakic of Colorado.

Besides Yzerman, Shanahan and Pronger, the North American starters are forward Paul Kariya of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, defenseman Rob Blake of Los Angeles and goalie Curtis Joseph of Toronto.
