DETROIT (AP) -- A face injury won't sideline Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios during the NHL playoffs.

Chelios was injured during the third period of Friday's game against Washington, when Chris Simon hit him with his stick.

Chelios had bone and CAT scans Monday and the results were negative, Red Wings spokesman John Hahn said.

Chelios practiced with the team Monday and is expected to be in the lineup Thursday when Detroit meets the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the playoffs.
