Ray Bourque Having Ray Bourque in Colorado may be just what the Avs need to get through the opening round of the playoffs. Brian Bahr/Allsport

The series between Colorado and Phoenix is a no-brainer for most CNNSI.com users. The Avs will run away with the series win if our users are on target. A collection of some of the most interesting responses follows:

Being a Bruins fan for nearly thirty years, the Avs are my sentimental favorite this year. I can't help but root for Bourque and company. With the experience and determination of Bourque and Roy, you can't count out Colorado. GO AVS! Win one for Ray.
Marty, Baltimore, Md.

The Avs are loaded with talent so it's hard to imagine that Phoenix can win a series like this. On the other hand Phoenix does have some good snipers and a decent defense. Phoenix could win if some kind of locker room magic takes place.
John Forkheim, Ottawa, Ontario

If the series had been played before the all-star break, I would have predicted Phoenix would win. However, Phoenix has been average at best over the second half of the season. In contrast, Colorado is on a roll; winning 13 of there last 16 games. Colorado has a lot more talent and is now playing with a lot of grit - winning the close games. Colorado will win the series in five games.
Pat Chapman, Denver

I believe that goaltending will make the series. Unfortunately for Phoenix, their goaltending is not as strong as Colorado. With the addition of Ray Bourque to Colorado, the Avalanche seem rejuvenated! I believe the Avalanche will triumph over the Coyotes!
Christine Knighton, Mesa, Ariz.

No goaltending + No leadership + No fire = No contest. Avs in four.
Vern Gristle, Vail, Colo.

It's an open series between these two teams. Phoenix is just as good as Colorado this season. If Peter Forsberg don't recover his injury in time and starts scoring I think Phoenix has an advantage. Ray Bourque means a lot, but he and Joe Sacik can't win by alone. It will be at least six games this round, I promise!
D. Niemann, Ornskoldsvik, Sweden

What I like best about this series is the potential to go seven games. Each team has beaten the other twice this season and each team has the talent to win. However, only one team has the extended playoff experience, advantage Avs. Phoenix will give everything they have to get out of the first round, which could also leave them hurting in the second round, but Colorado already knows what it takes to survive. Look for a great series, especially with the injury to Forsberg, that could easily go the distance. However put your money on the Avs to advance, and Bourque to get a chance at the cup. P.S. The Avs won the last 2 meetings between the two clubs, might they have found a weakness in the Coyotes game? Stay tuned for some great hockey!
Christopher Payne, Spokane, Wash.

Phoenix is a solid team and has been playing well recently, but it still won't be enough to knock off Colorado in the first round. Unfortunately for them, the Avalanche is the hottest team in the league right now and it will take a lot more than what the Coyotes have to put out the flame that Bourque and Andreychuk have lit.
Ryan Vehar, Phoenix

Phoenix is one of my favorite teams in the NHL and I would like to see them do well. But unfortunately they have screwed themselves by going into a slump at the end of the season and it has cost them because they drew the Avs in the first round. The Avs are probably the hottest team in the league right now. Any team would lose to the Avs in the first round.
Mike Mottau, Boston

Plain and simple. Phoenix will be playing golf during the second round once again. Colorado has too many weapons for Phoenix to counter. Even with Forsberg out, Phoenix still has to deal with the likes of Sakic, Drury, Heijduk, and the list goes on. At the other end of the ice, the NHL's new No. 1 defensive pair (Foote and Bourque) will make for a tough test for the Yotes. And if they do get by them, the NHL's winningest playoff goalie will be waiting for them. Bottom line-the second round drought for Phoenix will last another year.
Erik Eisenman, Troy, N.Y.

Phoenix has some talented players, but they are to soft and Colorado has way to0 much firepower. Avs in six.
Jason, Denver

Unfortunately, Phoenix is going to get crushed by the Avs. Even if Tchakuk returns for the first game of the series, nothing will prevent the Avs from scoring at least four goals per game.
Ray Meiers, Cincinnati

Despite the two wins over the Avs in the regular season, the Coyotes won't be able to stop Colorado on the way to the finals. They're good and determined but it's not enough against a team which won its last eight games.
Ede Sipos, Budapest, Hungary

The Colorado Avalanche will take out the Coyotes. There is not enough skill on the Coyotes. While the Avs are stoked with talent, the six best forwards on one team (Forsberg, Sakic, Deadmarsh, Drury, Hejduk and Tanguy).
Tyler Smith, Roseville, Mich.

The Coyotes cannot match up against Patrick Roy and the Avs. Even without Forsberg, Colorado is an unpredictable force to be reckoned with. Keith and J.R. will not be able to get past Bourque and Foote. The Coyotes will be playing golf early this post-season -- again.
Mo, Seattle
