KANATA, Ontario (AP) -- Senators defenseman Wade Redden has a broken foot and will miss at least the first round of the NHL playoffs.

He was injured Sunday, the last game of the regular season, and was evaluated again Thursday. He fractured a small bone in his right foot.

"It's at least two to three weeks," coach Jacques Martin said. "It's hard to say depending how the swelling goes down and also how quickly he can put on a skate without pain. I don't know how much he can take."

The Senators trail the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 in their best-of-7 opening series. Game 2 is Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre.

Grant Ledyard will continue to fill in for Redden.
