DALLAS (AP) -- Colorado Avalanche defenseman Ray Bourque did not play in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals against the Dallas Stars on Monday night, opting to give his injured left leg a few more days' rest.

Bourque missed the last two games of the second round against Detroit after being hurt in Game 3 of that series. He will likely return when the series shifts to Colorado on Friday night for Game 3.

Bourque has six assists in his eight playoff games, a plus-3 rating and has averaged a team-best 29 minutes per game.

The Avalanche acquired Bourque on March from the Boston Bruins, with whom he had spent his entire 21-year career and established himself as one of the NHL's best defensemen. About the only thing he hadn't done was win the Stanley Cup.

Bourque's arrival sparked a Colorado revival. Including the postseason, the team is 21-4-1, with victories in 17 of its last 19 outings, since the trade.
