DALLAS (AP) -- Colorado defenseman Adam Foote left Game 2 of the Western Conference finals after being struck near his right eye Monday night by the stick of Dallas forward Jere Lehtinen.

Foote, Colorado's top defenseman in the absence of Ray Bourque, sustained a laceration and was taken to Baylor University Hospital for observation.

Lehtinen took a shot from an angle and his follow through hit Foote in the side of the head just 2:42 into the game.

Foote has no goals and five assists in this year's playoffs. He scored five goals and set up 13 others in 59 regular-season games.

Bourque missed his fourth straight playoff game with an injury to his left leg. He is expected to rejoin the lineup Friday night when the series shifts to Denver for Game 3.
