Devils rule the road

The Devils improved their playoff road record to 8-2, within two of the NHL post-season record they set during their 1995 Stanley Cup run (10-1). The Devils have yet to lose on the road in the Stanley Cup Finals (3-0), having defeated the Detroit Red Wings in both games played at Joe Louis Arena in 1995.

Teams winning Game 3 in the finals

Teams winning Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals with the series tied 1-1 have won the Cup in 18 of 21 seasons (85.7%). The three clubs to buck the trend were the 1964 Toronto Maple Leafs (over Detroit), the 1989 Calgary Flames (over Montreal) and the 1991 Pittsburgh Penguins (over Minnesota).

Fire away

The Devils outshot the Stars 31-23 for the game, the third consecutive game they have outshot Dallas and the 17th time in 20 post-season games they have outshot their opponent.

Devils leading after two

New Jersey improved to 9-1 in the playoffs when leading after two periods. Dallas now is 0-6 when trailing after two.
