The best defense

The Devils don't toot their horns loudly and are thus subject to unwavering, and misguided, public opinion. Defense is still Job 1 in New Jersey, but a quick-strike transition mentality powered a Stanley Cup win in 2000. In 2001, save for a few hitches along the way, the Devils have steamrolled downhill through Carolina, Toronto and Pittsburgh.
