Toronto ships Ware to Panthers for Nemirovsky

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs made their second trade in as many days, acquiring right wing David Nemirovsky from the Florida Panthers for defenseman Jeff Ware.

On Tuesday, the Maple Leafs obtained defenseman Chris McAllister from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for center Darby Hendrickson.

Nemirovsky, 22, a native of Toronto, will report to St. John's of the American Hockey League after spending the majority of the year playing with the Fort Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League. He recorded 22 goals and 13 assists in 44 games for Fort Wayne and appeared in two games for the Panthers, recording one assist.

Playing in his fourth season, Nemirovsky has appeared in 91 career NHL games, scoring 16 goals and adding 22 assists with 42 penalty minutes.

Ware, 21, was a first-round pick of the Leafs and the 15th overall selection in the 1995 draft. In 65 games with St. John's this season, he had one goal and four assists with 130 penalty minutes. Ware has played in 16 career NHL games and is pointless with six penalty minutes.
